Real Madrid currently lack depth and options in a number of areas across the pitch. One position where they do need to make an addition soon is right-back. Dani Carvajal is a club legend and has been the regular starter there for years. It might be time for change though, with the Spaniard no longer the player he once was.

The issue is that the club do not have any real cover in that position. Lucas Vazquez and Nacho Fernandez seem to be the backup options to Carvajal.

Both of them are past 30 years of age and not natural right-backs. Thus, the situation is far from ideal. Do not be surprised if Real Madrid end up signing a right-back in the very near future.

They have been linked with quite a few right-backs in recent times. Reece James and Achraf Hakimi are just two of the most high-profile names believed to be on their wishlist. But the answer might be closer to home.

Manchester City want to sign €15 million Real Madrid target

As reported by 90min, Manchester City could compete with Barcelona and Real Madrid in the race to sign Arnau Martinez. Also, the likes of Arsenal, Aston Villa, Liverpool, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur have all watched the Girona player this season. Clubs like Bayern Munich, Bayer Leverkusen, Napoli and AS Roma are believed to hold an interest in the Spanish full-back as well.

Girona are part of the City Football Group. As a result, Manchester City might have an advantage in any transfer race for the €15 million-rated right-back.

Martinez is just 20 years of age and is considered one of the best young right-backs in Spanish football right now. As a result, it is not hard to understand why there is so much interest in his signature. It remains to be seen if Real Madrid do end up making a move for him or not.
