Manchester United just cannot seem to get things right since the departure of Sir Alex Ferguson as the manager of the club. Whenever it looks like they are moving in a positive direction, it goes south once again. It certainly seems like we are seeing a repeat of that during Erik ten Hag’s run in the Old Trafford hot seat. Could the Premier League giants look towards the Real Madrid boss next?

Manchester United won the League Cup last season and finished third in the Premier League. A very solid season for a club that had gone five seasons without a trophy and Ten Hag was viewed by many as the manager to take them back to the top.

This season, they are struggling once again. Manchester United sit 10th in the Premier League table and bottom of their Champions League group. Unsurprisingly, questions are being asked about Ten Hag.

If things don’t improve quickly, it would not be a surprise to see Ten Hag being shown the exit door. And Carlo Ancelotti is unexpectedly being linked with the Old Trafford job?

As reported by El Chiringuito (via SPORTbible), Benjamin Lopez said:

"“Ancelotti has two things decided about his future, one is that if they offer him a renewal he will remain at Madrid. Brazil can put whatever they want on the table, he will stay.”"

The journalist continued:

"“He has a house in Vancouver and his wife is Canadian so he would be delighted with that.“The last is not an offer in writing but has been sent to him verbally through his agent, it’s from the Premier League and Manchester United. They would take him tomorrow.”"

That is surprising news, to say the least. Especially when you consider that it had looked like Ancelotti’s managerial career was on the downslide a few years back. After disappointing stints at Bayern Munich and Napoli, he had found himself at Everton.

Now, he is in the third year of his second stint as Real Madrid manager. He has won everything with the club this time around. On the other hand, he is being linked with one of the biggest clubs in the world in the form of Manchester United. There have been links with the Brazil national team job as well.
