Real Madrid will need to make additions to their squad sooner or later if they are to remain competitive throughout the course of the season. The club have made a fantastic start to this campaign, winning ten out of their twelve games till now. But they were very good in the first few months of the previous one as well, only to fade out when injuries and fatigue started to take their toll on a paper-thin roster.

Most Real Madrid fans expected the club to add depth to their squad over the summer. That has not happened. In fact, one could argue that they are lighter on options now than they were last season.

Not the ideal situation to be in. And one would hope that the club bring in more players soon. The good news is that they continue to be linked with several.

Takefusa Kubo is one player who is believed to be on the radar of Real Madrid. He was previously at Santiago Bernabeu but left in search of playing time before ever making an appearance for the senior team. He has found his feet at Real Sociedad since then and is currently one of the best players in La Liga.

Real Madrid interest in rumoured Manchester United target confirmed

Real Madrid are not the only team to be linked with Kubo. Manchester United are rumoured to hold an interest in the player as well.

But as reported by CaughtOffside, Fabrizio Romano said in the latest edition of his exclusive column for the Daily Briefing:

"“In terms of replacing Sancho, there have been reports about Takefusa Kubo and in my opinion he would be a fantastic option, Kubo is a top player. But I’m afraid there’s absolutely nothing concrete happening there from what I’m told.“Kubo is a crucial player for Real Sociedad, also Real Madrid are still keeping an eye on him for the future. I’m not aware of any talk with other clubs at this stage, and I don’t think it’s one for January honestly.”"

It will be interesting to see where things go from here for Kubo. He has been excellent for Real Sociedad and might have a lot of clubs looking to sign him next summer. Real Madrid, on the other hand, are believed to have a clause that will allow them to sign the Japanese international for a €30 million transfer fee if they want to.
