It is no secret that Real Madrid need more options upfront. The lack of depth there is one of the main reasons why Carlo Ancelotti has had to change his system this season. Los Blancos have continued to produce fantastic results despite the circumstances but one has to wonder whether this run of form is sustainable or if they will fade away just like in the previous campaign. Time shall tell.

It would be ideal if Real Madrid added another striker to their ranks in January. While they have been linked with a number of world-class names, perhaps it is more likely that the club would go for a short-term fix and try to bring in their long-term number 9 in the summer.

Mehdi Taremi is one player who has been linked with a move to Real Madrid lately. And there is some great news in that regard.

As reported by Defensa Central (via The Hard Tackle), Real Madrid are interested in Taremi. And the prolific striker is keen on joining the Spanish club in the January transfer window.

Taremi is one of the most underrated strikers in all of Europe. While the name might not raise the interest of most Real Madrid fans immediately, he could be a smart signing, just like Joselu has proven to be.

Taremi had 45 goal contributions to his name last season. It is safe to say that he knows his way back to the net and has the ability to set up his teammates as well. Yes, he is 31 years of age, but as long as he can perform, that is merely a number.

Taremi’s current deal with FC Porto is believed to run out next summer. So perhaps he could be available for a bargain fee in January.
