David Alaba has had an interesting campaign till now. He missed a few games due to injury and came under heavy criticism for his performance in the derby against Atletico Madrid, the only match that Real Madrid have lost so far this season. But the Austrian remains a starter in Carlo Ancelotti’s side, who look much better defensively now than last time around.

Alaba joined Real Madrid in the summer of 2021 as a free agent after his contract with Bayern Munich ran out. And he has already won every trophy possible with Los Blancos.

Alaba has a contract that runs until the summer of 2026 and at 31 years of age, he should still have quite a bit of top-level football left in the tank. But he has been linked with a move to the Saudi Pro League lately.

Alaba is an important part of this team and letting him go, without bringing in a replacement would not be ideal. Real Madrid do not seem completely against the idea of the Austrian leaving though, if the right offer is on the table.

As reported by Fichajes, Real Madrid estimate the transfer value of Alaba at around €70 million. That is the figure they would accept to let the defender go two seasons after his arrival from Bayern Munich for nothing.

Real Madrid have shown in the past that they are open to letting even regular starters go for the right transfer fee. Casemiro’s move to Manchester United last year is a perfect example of that.

It remains to be seen if Real Madrid part ways with Alaba in the near future as well. If they do, the club will need to bring in a replacement. Interestingly, they have been linked with a few centre-backs in recent times.
