One position where Real Madrid need to improve as soon as possible is striker. Karim Benzema left in the summer and has not been properly replaced. To be fair to Joselu, he has done a fantastic job whenever given a chance. But he is the only real option up front. Rodrygo and Vinicius Jr have both struggled to show their best form when playing centrally.

Do not expect Real Madrid to sign a long-term striker in the middle of the season though. That’s not how things work at Santiago Bernabeu, as we have learned over the past several January transfer windows.

But the possibility of a short-term fix up top cannot be ruled out. One very interesting name they have been linked with quite a bit recently is Mehdi Taremi of FC Porto.

As reported by Fichajes, Taremi has shown interest in a possible move to Real Madrid during the January transfer window. He prioritizes his arrival at Santiago Bernabeu ahead of other top-level clubs interested in signing him.

Taremi might not be having his best season this time, but over the years, he has proven himself to be an elite striker. According to stats from Transfermarkt, he scored 31 goals and provided 14 assists in 51 appearances for FC Porto in the 2022/23 campaign.

Someone like Taremi could be a very smart signing for Real Madrid, just like the season-long loan move for Joselu has proven to be. The club might not be bringing in a high-profile name but the Iranian international is someone capable of doing the job.

His current deal with FC Porto is believed to be running out at the end of the ongoing season as well. So, he might be available for a bargain transfer fee in the summer.
