Fabrizio Romano drops Reece James news amid Real Madrid links

It is no secret that Real Madrid need to strengthen at right-back in the future. Dani Carvajal is no longer the player that he once was and that is only natural. On the other hand, the club do not have any genuine back up in that position or a youngster who is rising through the ranks and is ready to start there in a year or two.

As a result, it is more than likely that Real Madrid would have to sign their long-term replacement for Carvajal. One player who has been constantly linked with a switch to Santiago Bernabeu is Chelsea captain Reece James.

James has put in some impressive displays against Real Madrid in the past and it would not be a surprise if he caught the eye of the club then. But at the same time, it would not be easy to sign him from Chelsea.

To be honest, at this point in time, it feels very unlikely that Chelsea would part ways with James. Yes, he has had a lot of injury problems. But when on the pitch, he is easily one of their best players.

They would be hoping that he is able to put his injury problems behind him once and for all. If he can do that, he has the potential to be one of the best right-backs in the world. Of course, that is a big ‘if’.
