Quite a few players have made the journey from Chelsea to Real Madrid over the years, whether it be on loan or on a permanent basis. Of course, names like Eden Hazard, Antonio Rudiger, Kepa Arrizabalaga and Thibaut Courtois come to mind immediately as they are a part of Carlo Ancelotti’s team or were in the recent past.

But then, there are also the likes of Arjen Robben, Michael Essien and Ricardo Carvalho. On the other hand, players like Mateo Kovacic, Alvaro Morata and Claude Makelele switched from Santiago Bernabeu to Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea are going through a tough period right now. But they still have some quality players who seem to be drawing the interest of Los Blancos.

As reported by TEAMtalk, Real Madrid remain very interested in Reece James. Los Blancos hope that he can become their next Jude Bellingham. But signing him from Chelsea will not be straightforward.

James was named the captain of Chelsea this season after Cesar Azpilicueta left to join Atletico Madrid. The Englishman has continued to struggle with fitness issues though.

That has been the case with James for some time now. He struggles to remain fit for any consistent length of time. That is something that Real Madrid must consider before making any move for the Englishman.

Yes, he is one of the most talented full-backs in world football who is top quality at both ends of the pitch. But if he cannot remain fit, it might not be worth pursuing a move for him.

On the other hand, James came through the youth ranks at Chelsea to become captain and the club rate him very highly as well. Thus, signing him would not be easy by any stretch of the imagination. Let’s see what the future holds.
