The Kylian Mbappe saga continues to roll on in the background. The Frenchman has been linked with a move to Real Madrid for years now and yet, it has never materialised. Next summer could be when that comes to an end. The Frenchman’s current deal with Paris Saint-Germain is set to run out at the end of the season.
That means that he will become a free agent unless PSG find him a new club in the winter transfer window. Mbappe will also be able to agree a pre-contract with teams from January.
Real Madrid are viewed as the overwhelming favourites to sign Mbappe next summer. But it seems like they are not the only ones in the race for the Frenchman’s signature.
Liverpool do not seem to have given up hope of signing Mbappe either. As reported by L’Equipe (via GOAL) Jurgen Klopp’s side are still keeping in contact with the French international’s representatives.
Liverpool hand Mbappe problem to Real Madrid
Real Madrid are still the most likely destination for the French World Cup winner. But if there is one thing that we have learned from the Mbappe saga, it is that nothing is impossible. So, it would be a mistake to count out Liverpool’s chances.
They are one of the most historic and biggest teams in Europe as well. And under the management of Klopp, they have a proven record of being successful. On the other hand, who will the Real Madrid manager next season? There is speculation that Carlo Ancelotti will be leaving when his contract runs out in the summer.
All things considered, there is still some way to go in the Mbappe saga. One cannot completely count out the chances of Mbappe signing an extension with PSG either. But at the moment, it would be a surprise if he is not wearing the Real Madrid jersey in the very near future.
