The Kylian Mbappe to Real Madrid saga took another interesting turn recently with the Spanish giants releasing a statement saying that they have not been involved in any negotiations with the player. Of course, the French World Cup winner is in the final year of his contract with PSG and will be free to agree a pre-contract with any club from January.

It is a very real possibility that Mbappe could join Real Madrid as a free agent next summer. Of course, Liverpool have lately been linked with him as well and rumours suggest that they remain in contact with the player’s representatives.

The possibility of Mbappe signing a contract extension with PSG cannot be completely ruled out either. Amidst all this, former Arsenal and Manchester City player, Samir Nasri, has given some advice to the World Cup winner.

As reported by Football Espana, Nasri told Journal du Dimanche:

"“He is from the Paris region. I would stay at PSG instead of going to Real Madrid to win the Champions League.”"

To be very honest, it is hard to see what Mbappe has left to achieve at PSG. Of course, he has yet to win a Champions League with the club. But then, that seems like a distant objective for the French side right now.

The likes of Lionel Messi, Neymar, Sergio Ramos and Marco Veratti left the club recently. They have signed several highly-rated players over the summer as well but overall, it does not feel like they are as good as they were last season. And even that was quite some way from competing for the Champions League.

It remains to be seen if Mbappe takes Nasri’s advice. He has less than a year left on his contract with PSG. And if he does not agree an extension soon, it will be interesting to see what the French giants do in January.
