Real Madrid fans were left confused by the club’s decision to release a statement regarding the recent rumours surrounding Kylian Mbappe. There is always speculation around a club of this magnitude. It is rare for them to publicly and officially rule something out though. So a lot of people were not sure what to make of the matter.

The club made it clear that there have been no negotiations between themselves and Mbappe. Many were left questioning though what the reason was behind Real Madrid’s decision to release a statement. And it looks like we have an answer.

Fabrizio Romano has explained why Real Madrid chose to put out an official statement regarding the matter. And it looks like it might be a lot simpler than a lot of fans are making it out to be.

Romano said while talking on his YouTube channel that Real Madrid don’t want to create any problem between Mbappe and PSG at this point in the season. It makes no sense for the club to have rumours circulating about the matter again.

Why Real Madrid released Mbappe statement

The statement does not mean that Real Madrid can’t or won’t make a move for Mbappe in the future. That is still very possible.

In fact, Real Madrid looks like Mbappe’s most likely destination, if or when he chooses to leave PSG. At the moment, it feels unlikely that the Frenchman will choose to sign another extension with them.

At the same time, nothing should be taken for granted in the Mbappe saga. Liverpool are another club who have been linked with a move for the French World Cup winner. On the other hand, there have been rumours that Los Blancos are interested in Jamal Musiala of Bayern Munich if they are unable to sign the PSG superstar.
