Real Madrid appear to be making significant progress in pursuing one of their main targets for the upcoming summer transfer window. Left-back is an area of the pitch where Los Blancos need to improve. The two recognised players there, Ferland Mendy and Fran Garcia, have failed to make the desirable impact till now.

As a result, Carlo Ancelotti has had to play Eduardo Camavinga as a left-back in pivotal matches. He has done well but it is not the ideal situation by any means and a matter of concern for the club.

Bayern Munich’s Alphonso Davies is believed to be a major transfer target for Real Madrid. And there seems to be a positive update on the matter.

As reported by AS, conversations with Davies’ agent, Nedal Huoseh, have intensified in recent weeks. There appears to be optimism at Real Madrid that they can sign the defender.

The 23-year-old is believed to be open to a move to the Spanish capital next summer. His contract with Bayern Munich expires at the end of the 2024/25 season.

Bayern Munich have already signed Raphael Guerreiro from Borussia Dortmund in order to cover for Davies. Although the Portuguese international has had his problems with injuries and has failed to be serious competition for the left-back position so far.

Bayern Munich are expected to look for a transfer fee in the region of €50 million for Davies next summer, if they cannot agree on a contract extension by then, rather than risking him leaving for nothing a year later. Let’s see if Real Madrid make a move.

Other clubs like Manchester City and Chelsea are rumoured to hold an interest in the Canadian international too. But at this point, it looks like Real Madrid might be ahead of them in the transfer race.
