After a fast start to the season which made it look like AC Milan were genuine title contenders, Stefano Pioli’s side have slipped. They have won just one of their previous six games across all competitions. As a result, they find themselves bottom of their Champions League group and six points adrift of Serie A leaders Inter Milan. Thus, changes are needed and could one Real Madrid player be the solution to their recent problems?

In the summer, Brahim Diaz was hyped up as a ‘new signing’ for Real Madrid. He had spent the previous three seasons on loan at AC Milan and impressed immensely during the 2022/23 campaign, which convinced Los Blancos to bring him back to the Spanish capital.

Brahim has barely featured this season though. According to stats from Transfermarkt, he has made 9 appearances and played 118 minutes of football so far in this campaign.

That is not nearly enough and unsurprisingly, there is already speculation about his long-term future. Could a return to AC Milan be on the cards?

As reported by Calciomercato, if the situation of Brahim does not change, a new loan in January to AC Milan cannot be ruled out. That is a return Pioli would welcome with open arms.

Brahim was playing some high-level football at AC Milan last season and there was even talk of the Italian side signing him on a permanent basis over the summer. Several top Premier League clubs were linked with him as well.

Ultimately, Brahim was brought back by Real Madrid. With the lack of depth in the squad, many thought he could be a regular contributor for the club if not a starter. But instead, he finds himself with a minor role at Santiago Bernabeu and a move away could be best for everyone involved.
