Manchester United have not made a good start to the season by any stretch of the imagination. Last season, it looked like they were moving in the right direction under the management of Erik ten Hag. But since then, they seem to have taken several steps back. As a result, one would expect the club to strengthen further in coming transfer windows and it looks like one of their targets is also wanted by Real Madrid.
Manchester United have dealt with quite a few injury problems at centre-back this season. Their starting duo in the heart of defence against Manchester City was Harry Maguire and Jonny Evans.
So, it is no surprise that they are being linked with centre-backs. And one of them is also believed to be on the radar of Real Madrid.
As reported by AS, Real Madrid are considering a move for Goncalo Inacio either in January or next summer. But they would face competition for the Portuguese international’s signature, most notably from Manchester United.
Manchester United want to sign €60 million Real Madrid target
Inacio currently plays for Portuguese side Sporting Lisbon. He has also broken into the Portugal national team picture this year.
He is 22 years of age and it is not hard to see why someone like him would fit the profile Real Madrid look for in transfer targets. Inacio is believed to have a release clause of around €60 million in his current deal at Sporting Lisbon.
Real Madrid need to make some long-term additions at centre-back as well. Antonio Rudiger, David Alaba and Nacho Fernandez are all past 30 years of age. On the other hand, Eder Militao tore his ACL earlier in the season and it remains to be seen if that serious injury ends up having a long-term impact on the Brazilian international.
