Arsenal have made a very good start to the season and proven that the previous campaign was not a fluke. They are a great team and one that could challenge for silverware. That being said, not everything that the club have done in recent times has worked out. And it looks like they might already be open to the prospect of a long-time Real Madrid target leaving.

One signing Arsenal made in the summer which was met with some scepticism was that of Kai Havertz. The German international was signed from Chelsea for a transfer fee of around €65 million.

Real Madrid were believed to be in the race for Havertz as well but not for that kind of a transfer fee. And the German international is having a tough season even though he is getting regular playing time.

Havertz has been involved in every game Arsenal have played so far this season. Yet, his numbers are nowhere near what you would expect for a player they signed for a €65 million transfer fee. He has scored and assisted once each. We are in November.

As reported by Defensa Central (via The Hard Tackle), Arsenal are considering parting ways with Havertz for a €40 million transfer fee. Real Madrid and Bayern Munich were previously interested in the player but there are doubts about a January deal.

Real Madrid have been linked with Havertz since his days at Bayern Munich, where he was scoring and assisting for fun. The Premier League has never quite looked like the right fit for him though.

Perhaps Havertz could thrive in La Liga. But would Real Madrid be open to the idea of signing someone whose stint at Chelsea was not the grand success it was expected to be and the start to his run at Arsenal has been pretty underwhelming to say the very least?
