There are quite a few whose futures at Real Madrid are up in the air right now despite the fact that the club do not have much depth in multiple areas. That is because of the fact that Carlo Ancelotti consistently picks and rotates between a group of players, and understandably so as they have produced results on a consistent basis.

Right now, Real Madrid have only one fit goalkeeper in the form of Andriy Lunin. Thibaut Courtois is out for the foreseeable future while Kepa Arrizabalaga suffered an injury while warming up before the game against SC Braga.

Lunin did a great job when brought into the starting XI against SC Braga, saving a penalty kick and keeping a clean sheet. But it is unlikely that he will remain at the club next season.

Lunin has been one of the most highly-rated young goalkeepers in the world for a long time but he has never gotten consistent chances at Real Madrid. That is not surprising considering the club have had arguably the best goalkeeper in the world in Courtois since 2018.

Real Madrid player’s wife admits they are ready to leave

Lunin’s current deal with Real Madrid runs out next summer and most fans expect him to leave. His wife’s recent comments appear to point in that direction as well.

As tweeted by Madrid Xtra, Lunin’s wife Anastasia was asked on Instagram whether the goalkeeper planned to leave or stay in Madrid. She replied:

"“If there is a club that will let him play I think we will leave. If there is a club where he will be allowed to play then of course we are ready to move.”"

There is not believed to be any lack of interest in Lunin’s signature. Scottish champions Celtic have been linked with him. Real Betis are another club rumoured to be interested in the Real Madrid goalkeeper. And surely there will be more keeping an eye on his situation.

When everybody is fit and available, Lunin will struggle for playing time at Real Madrid. At 24 years of age, he needs to be playing consistent football. So, leaving might be the best option for him.
