Bayer Leverkusen have been the revelation of the Bundesliga this season. Despite Harry Kane’s sheer brilliance, it is Xabi Alonso’s side who are leading the league right now with 31 points from the first 11 games. As close to perfect as one can get. And that sort of form seems to have caught the eye of Real Madrid.
The club have been linked with Xabi Alonso numerous times already. There are rumours that Carlo Ancelotti will leave at the end of the season and the Spaniard is believed to be the favourite to replace him in the Santiago Bernabeu hot seat.
Considering how Bayer Leverkusen are playing at the moment, that will come as no surprise to anyone. But it is not just Alonso that Real Madrid seem to have their eyes on.
Real Madrid eyeing three Bayer Leverkusen players
The first two are positions where Real Madrid need to improve. Dani Carvajal is no longer the player that he was in his prime. On the other hand, the club have not really replaced Karim Benzema, who left in the summer.
Jeremie Frimpong is one of the most exciting right-backs or wing-backs in all of Europe right now. He was heavily linked with an exit over the summer and it is a surprise that he remained at Bayer Leverkusen. Real Madrid have been linked with him in the past as well.
On the other hand, Boniface has been one of the biggest reasons behind Bayer Leverkusen’s success this season. At 22 years of age, he would be a long-term solution up top as well.
The biggest talent out of the three is believed to be Wirtz though. He is being linked with some of the best teams in Europe and it might take a €100 million fee to sign him.
