Rumours linking Alphonso Davies with a move to Real Madrid have started to gain momentum in recent days. The Bayern Munich player is believed to be one of Los Blancos’ top targets next summer as they seek to strengthen at left-back. His current deal with the Bundesliga champions runs out in less than two years.

Real Madrid signed Fran Garcia in the summer. But the Spaniard has not convinced yet that he can be a starter for Los Blancos. On the other hand, Ferland Mendy has continued to deal with frequent fitness issues and the expectation is for him to depart soon.

Thus, Real Madrid could do with a long-term solution in that position. And someone like Davies could be perfect.

He has top-level experience of playing for a winning team. Also, he is just 23 years of age. Thus, he ticks a lot of the boxes that Real Madrid look at when trying to sign players.

Davies’ agent drops update amid Real Madrid rumours

As tweeted by Philipp Kessler, Nedal Huoseh was surprised by the recent reports coming out of Spain stating that Davies has refused to sign a new contract at Bayern Munich and that he is only thinking about Real Madrid. The agent said:

"“That’s inaccurate. Right now, Phonzy is at Bayern Munich, that’s where his focus is.”"

Of course, one would expect Davies and his team to hold their cards close to their chest. If he does leave Bayern Munich, there is not expected to be any lack of interest in his signature. Other than Real Madrid, clubs like Chelsea and Manchester City have been linked with the Canadian international as well.

If Davies does not end up signing an extension soon, one would expect Bayern Munich to be open to letting him go next summer. They surely would not want a repeat of the David Alaba situation as he joined Real Madrid as a free agent in the summer of 2021.
