There have been more twists in the Kylian Mbappe to Real Madrid transfer saga than Shutter Island. And yet, they keep on coming. A few days earlier, rumours broke out that Los Blancos had made the decision to not pursue a move for the French World Cup winner. It goes without saying that that came out of the blue, as the club had been chasing his signature for years.

It was a confusing update, to say the least. Why would the club pull out of the race at this time, when Mbappe is most probably going to become a free agent next summer?

As it turns out, it looks like Real Madrid might still be interested in Mbappe. But, they seem to have one condition before trying to sign him.

As reported by RMC Sport, Real Madrid have not given up on signing Mbappe. But the club are waiting for the Frenchman to take the first step. They will no longer put themselves forward at all, nor do they want to appear as the main contender.

New twist in Mbappe to Real Madrid transfer saga

We all know how things had turned out for Real Madrid last year. Mbappe was in a similar situation back then as well and most believed it was only a matter of time before he joined the Spanish club as a free agent.

In fact, Mbappe was applauded by the Santiago Bernabeu crowd when PSG faced Real Madrid. But he would end up signing an extension with PSG later.

It is understandable that Real Madrid do not want a repeat of that situation or look like they have failed to sign Mbappe once again. It would be a blow to Los Blancos’ image and aura. Thus, it would be right to move forward with caution.
