It seems like Real Madrid are linked with a different player every day. It is not hard to understand why. The club do need to strengthen in several positions across the pitch. It is commendable how well they have done despite their lack of depth but the situation is not ideal and needs to be addressed in future transfer windows.
One of the positions in need of strengthening is centre-back. Eder Militao tore his ACL in the first match of the season and is out for the foreseeable future. Also, it remains to be seen how well he recovers from such a serious injury and whether there are any long-term effects on his game.
On the other hand, Nacho, David Alaba and Antonio Rudiger are the three other centre-backs on the roster and all of them are past 30. So, it would make sense for Los Blancos to strengthen in that position.
It looks like a Tottenham Hotspur centre-back is the latest to catch their attention. As reported by Fichajes, Real Madrid has its sights set on Cristian Romero.
Real Madrid interested in Tottenham Hotspur player
Romero has been a key reason behind Tottenham Hotspur’s successful start to this season. On the other hand, he is proven at the international level as well, and has been a major part of the Argentina national team, who are the reigning World and South American champions.
Romero is also just 25 years of age. So, he is most probably yet to enter his prime and could remain an elite centre-back for a long time to come.
It is not hard to understand why someone like Romero might attract the attention of Real Madrid. That being said it would be very difficult to sign him from Tottenham Hotspur. He has a contract that runs until the summer of 2027.
