€50 million player wants to join Real Madrid over Barcelona
Real Madrid are expected to strengthen their squad in the upcoming transfer windows. Los Blancos have made a very good start to the season, especially considering their lack of squad depth and injury situation. That being said, it is not ideal and it remains to be seen if Carlo Ancelotti’s side can continue performing like this over the course of the entire season.
Real Madrid made a great start last season. But as injuries and fatigue started to take their toll, the performance levels slipped drastically in the second half of the campaign.
Real Madrid have been linked with a number of players in recent times. One of them is Nico Williams of Athletic Bilbao. And the club have been handed a boost in the race to sign him.
As reported by AS, Barcelona were the first to make a move to show their interest in the Athletic Bilbao player. Williams’ priority would be to continue in Spain and his first option would always be to wear the shirt of Real Madrid.

Williams’ current deal with Athletic Bilbao runs out next summer. However, the player is believed to be willing to extend his contract with the club whose youth ranks he came through. He does not want to increase his release clause, which currently stands at €50 million.
Williams is 21 years of age. He is one of the most exciting wingers in La Liga and a part of the Spanish national team set-up. According to stats from Transfermarkt, he has scored 1 goal and provided 5 assists in 10 appearances this season so far.
Thus, it is feasible that Real Madrid could consider shelling out a €50 million transfer fee to sign Williams. Several top Premier League clubs are believed to be interested in him as well though.
