Real Madrid were handed another injury problem as Vinicius Junior had to be substituted while representing Brazil in their game with Colombia. He had assisted the opener but went down holding his thigh later in the first half, and was brought off in the 27th minute of the World Cup qualifier.

Previously Eduardo Camavinga picked up an injury while training with the French national team after a collision with Ousmane Dembele. It will see him sidelined for around two months. Jude Bellingham, the man of the moment, has been out with a shoulder injury in recent games too.

Vinicius started the match for Brazil brilliantly as he provided the assist for Gabriel Martinelli’s opener. But ultimately, it proved to be an unhappy memory. Not only did he get injured but they lost 2-1 to Colombia as well.

The big worry for Real Madrid will be the extent of the injury. It was not the consequence of an impact or even of any particularly intense movement. Vinicius was jogging on the halfway line, far away from play when it happened.

The 23-year-old suffered a similar kind of injury earlier in the season which sidelined him for more than a month. As tweeted out by Managing Madrid, Vinicius said:

"“I think it’s the same injury as the last time. I took a hit there and it hurt a little later.”"

There have also been some suggestions on social media that Vinicius could miss around a month of action once again. If accurate, that would be bad news for Real Madrid.

After a bad start to the season, Vinicius was finally starting to find some form. Thus, the injury could not have come at a worse time for him.

Real Madrid will face Cadiz on November 26 and will most probably be without several of their top performers on the day. And without much depth in the forward areas, Carlo Ancelotti has a lot of thinking to do.
