It feels like Real Madrid have been in the middle of a rebuild for quite some time now. They have managed to assemble one of the most impressive rosters of youngsters in world football. The likes of Jude Bellingham, Eduardo Camavinga, Vinicius Jr and more are believed to have Ballon d’Or-level potential.
That being said, there are still quite a few holes in the squad that need to be filled. They lack depth in quite a few positions across the pitch.
One of them is striker. Karim Benzema left in the summer for Al-Ittihad and Los Blancos are yet to bring in a long-term replacement for him. Joselu is on loan for the season and is a short-term fix. On the other hand, Vinicius and Rodrygo have had to play in more central roles in this campaign.
Sooner or later, Real Madrid will need to find a long-term solution for their issues. And one player they have been linked with for years now is Erling Haaland.
Manchester City push for talks with Real Madrid target
As reported by 90min, Manchester City are pushing for talks with Haaland’s representatives over a new contract. The clauses written into the Norwegian superstar’s contract do not become active until 2025.
Real Madrid are not the only club to have been linked with Haaland recently either. Robert Lewandowski is 35 years of age and his rate of scoring goals has dropped a bit lately. Sooner or later, FC Barcelona will have to replace him as well.
There is very little reason for Haaland to leave Manchester City right now. He is scoring for fun and one a treble in his very first season with the club. That being said, he feels like someone who will be on the lookout for a new challenge if he feels he has achieved everything there.
