Real Madrid are well and truly a club in a transitional phase right now when it comes to their squad. Over the last number of seasons, many veteran players have departed and youngsters have arrived to take their place in the team and hopefully help lead the Spanish giants to glory in the years to come.

In the last three seasons alone the club has seen the departure of leaders like Sergio Ramos, Marcelo, Karim Benzema and many others. However, there are some legends who have remained a part of the club’s plans so far.

One veteran player in particular who seems to have questions surrounding his future right now is Luka Modric. The iconic Croatian signed a one-year extension in the summer. However, he is no longer a regular starter anymore and naturally, there is talk of a potential exit.

Modric was linked with a move away before he signed his extension with Real Madrid as well. And under the current circumstances, it is not hard to understand why he might want to leave. Some of his agent’s recent comments are very interesting in that regard.

As reported by GOAL, Modric’s agent Borja Couce told Shoot:

"“Saudi clubs? This summer there was interest in Modric with the aim of signing him. The player has several offers, from a club from the capital and another club.”“Modric is currently thinking about Real Madrid, but the idea of him moving to the Saudi Pro League is possible if the offer is suitable.”"

Modric has seen his playing time reduced this season in part due to the abundance of quality midfield depth in the squad, with Carlo Ancelotti opting to play the likes of Fede Valverde and Jude Bellingham ahead of the Croatian. Having been frequently left on the bench, it would be understandable if the one-time Ballon d’Or winner was considering his options.

With his career in its twilight, a move to the Saudi Pro League would not be a surprise, given the number of European stars who have followed that route in recent times. Could we see Modric reunite with Cristiano Ronaldo at Al-Nassr or Karim Benzema at Al-Ittihad soon?
