There is a lot of uncertainty around the future of Carlo Ancelotti at Real Madrid. Some have suggested that the Italian coach will leave at the end of the season, when his contract runs out, to take up the Brazil national team job. There have been other suggestions that Los Blancos are set to offer him a contract extension.

It remains to be seen what the future holds for Ancelotti. For the time being, he is doing a fantastic job despite the injury problems and lack of depth at Real Madrid.

It looks like Real Madrid might be keeping their options open though. Xabi Alonso has been heavily linked with the club in recent months following his fantastic showing at Bayer Leverkusen, who he has transformed from relegation contenders to league leaders in the space of a year.

But it appears that a Premier League manager is in the running for the Real Madrid job as well. That is none other than Roberto De Zerbi of Brighton & Hove Albion.

As reported by SPORT, one of the best placed to take the reins at Real Madrid next summer is Roberto De Zerbi. The club have already contacted the 44-year-old Italian coach. Negotiations are in their initial phase.

De Zerbi would certainly have the advantage over Alonso, when it comes to experience. The Italian has done a fantastic job at Brighton & Hove Albion as well and is considered one of the best managers in Europe.

That being said, the Seagulls have struggled in recent times. They have not won any of their last seven domestic games. Over their last ten games across all competitions, the only team they have been able to defeat is Ajax, who currently sit just three points above the relegation zone in the Eredivisie.
