Real Madrid still need to find a long-term successor to Karim Benzema, who left in the summer for Al-Ittihad. Los Blancos brought in Joselu on loan from Espanyol and he has done well whenever given a chance and deserves more opportunities than he has gotten so far. On the other hand, as players continue to pick up injuries left, right and centre, the club need to bring in reinforcements as soon as possible.
Real Madrid fans will be hoping that the club sign another forward in January. It is unlikely that they would splash out but even another smart signing similar to Joselu would be a big help at the moment.
One player Real Madrid have been linked with quite a bit lately is Mehdi Taremi of FC Porto. He has been one of the most prolific strikers in Europe over the past few seasons and his current deal runs out next summer.
Unfortunately for Los Blancos, there seems to be plenty of top-level competition for the signature of Taremi. In fact, it looks like Inter Milan have taken steps already.
Inter Milan in talks to sign Real Madrid and Man Utd target
As reported by Fichajes, Inter Milan has begun negotiations for Taremi. FC Porto remain firm that they want a transfer fee in the range of €20 million to €25 million to part ways with the striker in the winter. The offers presented so far have not managed to convince the Portuguese club.
Other than Real Madrid, clubs like Manchester United and AC Milan have also been linked with Taremi. It is not often that a player with a proven track record like him is entering the final six months of his contract.
It remains to be seen if any club end up shelling out that kind of transfer fee for Taremi. Yes, he is a very good striker but at the end of the day, he is a 31-year-old whose contract is running down.
