Real Madrid need to bring in reinforcements in a number of areas. The striker and the two full-back positions need to be strengthened as soon as possible. That being said, centre-back is another position where Los Blancos could do with a signing or two. Especially after the torn ACL suffered by Eder Militao in the first game of the season.

It remains to be seen if an injury of that nature and magnitude end up having a long-term effect on Militao’s game. On the other hand, the likes of Antonio Rudiger, Nacho Fernandez and David Alaba are all past 30 years of age.

So, it is understandable why Real Madrid have been linked with quite a few centre-backs. Names like Gabriel Magalhaes, William Saliba, Cristian Romero and a few others have done the rounds of the rumour mill.

As reported by Fichajes, Manchester United have emerged as a competitor in the race to sign Robin Le Normand. Real Madrid are interested in the centre-back as well. He could leave the Reale Arena for a figure close to €40 million.

Le Normand has been one of the standout centre-backs in La Liga in recent times. He has also established himself in the Spanish national team setup as well.

Interestingly, Le Normand has some experience under his belt as well. He might have grown in prominence in recent years but the Spanish centre-back is 27 years of age and entering his prime.

He made a slow start to his career at the senior level but has been on a steady rise over the past several years and is being considered a top centre-back today, as clear from the links with clubs like Manchester United and Real Madrid.

Both teams could do with reinforcements at centre-back. Now, it remains to be seen what the future holds for Le Normand and where he ends up.
