Real Madrid should sign Argentina’s next superstar
Every player has a star-making moment. A performance that makes the world take notice. Claudio Echeverri’s might have come at just 17 years of age at the Jakarta International Stadium, as the Argentine scored a hattrick against Brazil in the ongoing FIFA U-17 World Cup. Real Madrid surely must have been watching.
Real Madrid have been linked with Echeverri in the past. So have been clubs like PSG and Manchester City. And after this performance, one would expect more teams to enter the race for his signature.
Echeverri might be just 17 but he has already played first-team football for River Plate. According to stats from Transfermarkt, he has made 4 appearances for the club, providing an assist in the process.
The Argentine might have grown up idolising Barcelona icon Lionel Messi. But Real Madrid must make sure that Santiago Bernabeu is his next home.
Real Madrid should sign Argentina’s next superstar
Echeverri looks like one of the biggest young talents in world football without a shadow of a doubt. Real Madrid have been very active in recent years when it comes to signing wonderkids from around the globe.
What has been most impressive about their new transfer policy is the fact that they have then developed these wonderkids into first-team superstars. Names like Vinicius Jr, Rodrygo, Eduardo Camavinga, Fede Valverde and a few others come to mind immediately.
It is not like it has always been smooth sailing for these wonderkids either. Vinicius was considered just a dribbler with no effectiveness in front of goal for several years. Rodrygo has had his fair share of critics as well. Around this time last year, Camavinga was being linked with a loan move away.
Real Madrid have shown patience with their wonderkids though and given them enough chances to find their feet in the senior game. That should give a youngster like Echeverri the required confidence to make the move.
