Quite a few players have made the move from Real Madrid to Manchester United in recent years. Things have not quite worked out for them though. Angel Di Maria made a bright start at Old Trafford but his form faded away quickly and he was gone a year later. Casemiro was hailed as a superstar after joining in the summer of 2022 but questions are being raised about the Brazilian legend’s place in the team now.
When Raphael Varane joined Manchester United in 2021, many viewed him as the last piece of the puzzle that would make them title contenders once again. As we all know, things have not gone as smoothly for both the club and the player.
It would be an understatement to say that Manchester United have been inconsistent over the past couple of years. And Varane is struggling to get into the team this season. The likes of Harry Maguire, Victor Lindelof and Jonny Evans appear to be ahead of him in Erik ten Hag’s pecking order right now.
As tweeted out by Florian Plettenberg, Manchester United is aware of the fact that Varane is unhappy with his situation. He would receive the green light for a transfer in the winter. The club are believed to be looking for a fee of around €20 million to €30 million.
Real Madrid hero is unhappy at Manchester United
Let’s see how things play out over the next couple of months. But Varane’s future seems to be in doubt.
Bayern Munich are a club who have been linked with a move for Varane. But it would be difficult to pull off, considering the Frenchman’s wages as well as the fee they would have to shell out for a 30-year-old centre-back.
Of course, Real Madrid could do with another centre-back too. But it is unlikely for them to bring back Varane.
