Real Madrid are a club who could find themselves in need of a manager soon. Carlo Ancelotti’s future is in doubt at the moment. He has been heavily linked with the Brazil national team job in recent times with his current deal running out next summer. The Italian has been fantastic in his second stint at Santiago Bernabeu, especially when you consider the cards he has been dealt.

When he arrived, it was a squad full of youngsters not yet ready to be starters and veterans in the twilight of their careers. On top of that, lack of depth and injury problems have remained an issue throughout.

Despite of all those obstacles, Real Madrid have won every trophy possible under the management of Ancelotti over the previous two seasons. And yet, it would be a surprise if he was handed an extension.

There has always been the feeling that Real Madrid would look to make a change when Ancelotti’s contract ran out. Several managers have been linked with the club. Raul was believed to be one of the candidates for the job not too long ago but his chances seem to have dropped with Castilla struggling to perform this season. While the Santiago Bernabeu door might be slowly closing, one seems to have opened for the Spaniard in Germany.

Real Madrid legend could become manager of Bundesliga club

As reported by BILD (via AS), Raul would be a popular addition to Union Berlin. The Bundesliga side are searching for a new head coach after the recent departure of Urs Fischer and one of the club’s main candidates appears to be the Real Madrid icon.

Of course, Raul has spent time in Germany in the past. He played for Schalke after leaving Real Madrid and even won a couple of trophies with the club. So, he wouldn’t be going to an unfamiliar country, culture or league, if he did take the Union Berlin job.

It is unbelievable how quickly things have gone south for Union Berlin. Just last season, they were competing for the Bundesliga title. Now, they find themselves in the relegation zone. Is someone like Raul the right manager for the job?
