Cristiano Ronaldo is arguably the best player in Real Madrid’s history. He made the move to Santiago Bernabeu in 2009 for a then world-record transfer fee. It proved to be a bargain over his nine years in the Spanish capital though. By the time he left in 2018 for Juventus, he was the highest scorer in Los Blancos’ history and had won four Champions League titles with the club, playing a starring role in all those campaigns.

Ronaldo’s time at Real Madrid was one of the most memorable in the history of the game. The constant competition with Lionel Messi and FC Barcelona will live long in the memory of football fans.

It has been more than half-a-decade since Ronaldo left Real Madrid though. We have a new generation of players at the club now. Most of them never played with the Portuguese icon but instead grew up idolising him.

One such player is Vinicius Junior. And as reported by GOAL, Ronaldo sent his match shirt from the Portugal-Liechtenstein game to the Brazilian recently.

Vinicius has openly admitted his admiration for Ronaldo many times over the years. He even has a mural of the Portuguese superstar in his gym wall alongside other icons like Ronaldo Nazario, Pele, Lebron James, Kobe Bryant and Michael Jordan.

Interestingly, Vinicius is the current holder of the iconic Real Madrid number 7 shirt, once worn by Ronaldo. The previous two holders, Mariano Diaz and Eden Hazard, failed to live up to the expectations and carry on the legacy of that jersey. One feels like the Brazilian is going to do a much better job of it.

Currently, Vinicius is out injured after he picked up an injury while away with the Brazil national team. He is expected to remain on the sideline for around two months.
