Manchester United offer turned down by Real Madrid
Manchester United have signed a fair few top players from Real Madrid over the years. Casemiro made the move from Santiago Bernabeu to Old Trafford in 2022. Raphael Varane took the same journey the summer before that. But despite the presence of such proven winners in their squad, the club have not really turned their fortunes around.
Erik ten Hag’s debut campaign as manager was a positive one. But this time around, it looks like the inconsistent Manchester United of the past is back.
One player who appears to have lost his place in the team is Varane. The French centre-back, considered one of the best of his generation, has not started a Premier League game since September. He was not even brought on as a substitute in Manchester United’s important Champions League match against Galatasaray, which they drew 3-3.
Naturally, question marks have been raised surrounding the future of Varane at Old Trafford. Unfortunately for him, a return to Real Madrid does not appear to be on the cards.
Manchester United offer turned down by Real Madrid
As reported by OK Diario (via Fichajes), Varane has been offered to Real Madrid. But this offer has received a negative response from Los Blancos.
Real Madrid are expected to sign a new centre-back in the future. But it is believed that they want someone who is below 25 years of age.
Varane is 30 years of age and would not be a long-term solution for Real Madrid. The club already have three centre-backs in their 30s in the form of Antonio Rudiger, David Alaba and Nacho Fernandez.
It is undeniable that Varane has achieved a lot in a Real Madrid jersey. But it is unlikely that we will see him play for the club once again any time soon, if ever. We always wish the Frenchman the best moving forward though.
