Manchester United seem to have taken several steps back this season after Erik ten Hag’s impressive debut campaign last time around. One of the main reasons behind that is the lack of a reliable goalscorer. The club signed Rasmus Hojlund in the summer but he is yet to score in the Premier League. Thus, they are expected to look to sign a striker in January and it seems that a Real Madrid-linked player is in their sights.

Of course, Real Madrid’s need to sign a striker is no secret. The club did not really replace Karim Benzema, who left for Al-Ittihad in the summer. Instead, they went with a short-term solution by bringing in Joselu on a season-long loan from Espanyol.

Joselu has done a very good job whenever given a chance. But he is 33 and only on loan. Sooner or later, the club will need to sign another striker. Hopefully, someone who can lead the line for years to come.

One of the most in-form strikers in all of Europe this season has been Serhou Guirassy of VfB Stuttgart. He has been linked with Real Madrid in recent times and is believed to have a release clause around €17.5 million. But it looks like Manchester United are in the race as well.

As reported by The Guardian, Manchester United are interested in signing Guirassy in January. He is available for a €17.5 million transfer fee because of a release clause.

Guirassy is one of the best in-form strikers in the world right now. According to stats from Transfermarkt, he has scored 16 goals in 11 appearances this season so far, in 774 minutes of action.

Guirassy is also 27 years of age and entering his prime as a footballer. So, he should be someone ready to deliver from the get-go.
