Real Madrid need to sign a long-term number 9 sooner rather than later. Karim Benzema left the club at the end of last season in order to join Al-Ittihad somewhat out of the blue. Most people had expected him to extend his stay at Santiago Bernabeu by signing a one-year deal. But that did not happen.

Real Madrid did not sign a successor to Benzema last summer. Instead, they went for a short-term solution, signing Joselu on a season-long loan deal.

Joselu has impressed since arriving and has done well whenever given a chance. But he is clearly not someone who can lead the line for Real Madrid for years to come.

Fans are hoping that Real Madrid sign a world-class striker in the near future. They have been linked with quite a few high-profile names in recent times. One of them is Victor Osimhen.

Osimhen finds himself in an interesting situation at Napoli and it is very possible that he could be on the way out soon. The Nigerian international is one of the best strikers in Europe right now and has drawn the interest of many clubs other than Real Madrid.

As reported by CalcioNapoli24, on RAI 2, during La Domenica Sportiva, journalist Ciro Venerato said while talking about Osimhen’s situation:

"“Arsenal ahead of Chelsea and Real Madrid, for now.”"

Arsenal are flying at the moment. They have proven that last season was not a fluke by any means and they are challenging for the Premier League once again this season. What they miss at the moment though is a world-class striker. Osimhen could certainly fill that void.

On the other hand, Chelsea are in need of a striker who can consistently find the back for them. The Blues have put in some decent performances this season under the management of Mauricio Pochettino but are coming up short in the final third of the pitch.
