Real Madrid continue to struggle with injury problems yet again this season much like the last one. Key players seem to be heading for the sidelines left, right and centre, which has left the squad stretched. The team lost Thibaut Courtois and Eder Militao to ACL injuries early in the campaign, and they will remain out for the foreseeable future.
More recently Aurelien Tchouameni, Vinicius Junior and Eduardo Camavinga have suffered medium-term injuries. Luka Modric also suffered an injury recently but thankfully it is not a serious one and he should be back soon.
Real Madrid fans have understandably started to get worried with all the injuries occurring one after the other. And now, yet another key player is expected to be sidelined for the foreseeable future.
As reported by AS, Dani Carvajal will not play again in 2023. The injury is not serious, but it is more serious than previously thought. He has damaged his left soleus and will be out for around three weeks, possibly a month.
Real Madrid player ruled out for rest of 2023 with injury
To the surprise of many, Carvajal has been one of Real Madrid’s key players so far this season. The Spanish veteran has been putting in consistently good performances, looking more like his past self. So, his being injured is a blow for Los Blancos.
In the time Carvajal is expected to be sidelined, he will miss around six games and a Spanish Super Cup appears to be the target. Real Madrid should hopefully be able to cope with having Lucas Vazquez filling in at right-back till then.
With the number of injuries Real Madrid have suffered to key players so far this season, one would hope reinforcements are brought in in January. Otherwise, a drop in form seems inevitable in the second half of the season.
