One of the biggest questions being asked this summer has been what can we expect from Real Madrid this season. Off the back of disappointing back-to-back trophyless seasons, Real have once again turned to Jose Mourinho to bring them back to the top in what some view as a transition season at the Bernabeu.
Real have been looking strong in the pre-season but the question remains will it transfer over to the regular season. With Mourinho now at the helm and the loaded squad the manager has at his disposal, many are expecting a bounce back season from Real Madrid, but just how good will the be?
What can we expect from Mourinho and Los Blancos this season?
With the start of the season just a few days away, let's make some bold predictions for what could happen this season under Jose Mourinho at the Bernabeu.
1. Mourinho leads Los Blancos to the double
Coming off of back-to-back trophyless seasons, winning the La Liga and Champions League double in Mourinho's first season back may sound outlandish, but it's not like we haven't seen it before. Real went trophyless in the 20/21 season then won the double in the 21/22 season in Carlo Ancelotti's first season back at the club. The first season honeymoon phase can be strong and give the players extra motivation to deliver for the new manager and with the squad Jose has at his disposal, if he can get them all working together and to put their egos aside, major silverware is a very realistic possibility this season.
2. Kylian Mbappe breaks the La Liga single season goal record
Kylian Mbappe has been a goal machine in his two seasons at Real Madrid bagging 31 goals in 24/25 and 25 in 25/26 and following his World Cup campaign, he has returned to Real Madrid with goals and trophies on his mind. We've seen Jose Mourinho get the best out of his attackers at Real Madrid before, with Cristiano Ronaldo having one of his best goal scoring seasons under Mourinho, netting 53 goals in 55 matches in the 2011/12 season. The Frenchman will have to play like a man possessed this season to break Lionel Messi's record of 50 La Liga goals in the 2011/12 season, but if anyone can do it, it's Kylian Mbappe.
3. Real Madrid breaks their own La Liga single season goal record
Going along with Mbappe breaking the individual single season goal scoring record, it wouldn't be a surprise if Real Madrid broke the team single season goal scoring record in La Liga this season. Mourinho's Real set the record with 121 goals scored in the 2011/12 season and with the attacking fire power of Kylian Mbappe, Vinicius Jr, Yan Diomande, Jude Bellingham, and many more players capable of scoring goals in the squad, the 26/27 season could be a goal fest for Real Madrid under the Special One's guidance.
