One of the hottest topics of conversation at Real Madrid this summer has been Vinicius Jr. From his new look, to the rumors of a move to Arsenal, the Brazilian is as usual in the headlines seemingly every week whether for good or bad reason. With Jose Mourinho now in charge this season is very much a fresh start for Vinicius after somewhat of an up and down season last year.

A lot of uncertainty still surrounds Vinicius Jr just days before the season opener with many wondering what can we expect from the Brazilan this season, with his head maybe seeming not on it at all times recently. Let's take a look at three bold predictions for Vinicius Jr this season, in what will no doubt be an interesting season for the 26-year-old.

What is in store for Vinicius Jr this season?

1. Vinicius gets benched by January

While the Brazilian finished off last season strong under Arbeloa and had a solid World Cup campaign, Vinicius has looked off it so far in the pre-season and given the amount of attacking depth behind him, should he not deliver Mourinho could make the big call and drop him to the bench. One of the main philosophies of a Jose system is attackers tracking back to do their defensive work, something Vinicius doesn't like to do an dwith the attitude issues we saw from him last season, he could be his own worst enemy this season and if any manager has the you know what to bench a superstar like Vinicius it's Jose Mourinho.

2. Despite extending, Vinicius gets sold next summer

Despite the strong links to Arsenal this summer, Vinicius ended up inking a new contract with Real Madrid, keeping him at the Bernabeu until 2031, however that could be short lived. One of the biggest critiques of the Brazilian has been has attitude issues over the last few season, and while all players have attitude issues at times, his are a major detriment to the team and with a manager like Mourinho in charge, those issues won't fly for very long. We've seen more times than not that the trio of Vinicius, Mbappe, and Bellingham doesn't work and a departure of one of the three is a possibility and that could make Vini the odd man out and with clubs like Arsenal and PSG willing to splash the cash, his departure could happen next summer despite the new contract.

3. Mourinho somehow gets Vinicius to do his defensive work

While this sounds like a silly bold prediction it is one that is still relevant. Most modern attackers aren't fond of doing their defensive work and Vinicius is no different but if the club hopes to bring major silverware back home this season, Vini has to start tracking back again. The Brazilian did his defensive duties in the 21/22 and 23/24 seasons and look at how successful of seasons those were, but over the last two years he's lost that motivation to help the team in that department, so if Jose Mourinho can get him to start tracking back again, we could be in for a successful season at the Bernabeu this year.
