Real Madrid pulled a typical Real Madrid in the Champions League, leaving it until the very end to pull off a dramatic 4-3 win over Roma in the Champions League. Los Blancos were 3-1 down in the 81st minute before turning it around with late goals from Carlos Espi, Endrick, and Antonio Rudiger scoring the winner in the 90th minute.

While on paper it looks like a good performance against adversity, and all three points are coming home to the Bernabeu, that doesn't at all tell the full story. It was a horrendous performance from Real Madrid, not one that is worth celebrating or praising the players for.

So many questions could be asked about the players and the manager after such a poor performance, but let's narrow it down to just three; here are three burning questions from Real Madrid's 4-3 win over Roma.

1. What happened to the heart of Real Madrid?

When you look back on older generations of Real Madrid players, those players had fight in them; they had passion, determination, and grit. Players like Sergio Ramos, Marcelo, Luka Modric, and even older players like Raul and Roberto Carlos, were willing to die for the Real Madrid badge. This generation is not even close. To them, the Real Madrid shirt is just like any other shirt; no player goes out there to fight for the badge or fight for the fans and put on a performance worthy of playing for the club, except maybe Thibaut Courtois is the only exception.

This performance against Roma was weak, uninspired, and lacking in any passion for the badge. Real Madrid used to be a team of fighters; now they're just 11 players out there on the pitch wearing the same shirt, and that is one of the biggest downfalls of this new generation of Los Blancos, and something needs to change, and change fast.

2. Is this already the beginning of the end for Jose Mourinho?

While on paper a dramatic 4-3 comeback win is about as Real Madrid and Jose Mourinho as it gets, these results cannot keep happening. It was another poor team performance, just like we've seen numerous times this season, and while a portion of the blame lies with the players, the manager isn't safe from shouldering some of the blame too. It's 2026, and from the looks of things, it looks like Jose Mourinho is starting to lose that Mourinho magic that made him the special one in the first place.

Poor team selection, poor tactics, man-management not looking improved at all, dropped points; nothing is going right for Jose in his return to the Bernabeu, and even though it's still early in the season, these bad results could be the beginning of the end for Mourinho. The poor form can't keep up, if it does, we're in for one of the worst Real Madrid seasons in recent memory, so the club has to stay vigilant and may have to make a hard decision to get rid of Mourinho if things continue down this path.

3. Where does Real Madrid go from here?

Again, while the result may look like a good one, things aren't going well for Real Madrid. They're currently fourth in La Liga, six points behind league leaders Barcelona, are conceding goals for fun, still not playing as a team, and are still getting poor performances out of key players like Vinicius Junior, Fede Valverde, and Aurelien Tchouameni, and it doesn't look like things are going to turn around any time soon, so where do they go from here?

Let's be honest, Real Madrid aren't going to win La Liga, they're not going to win the Champions League, and at the moment they look like they'll be lucky to just qualify for the Champions League next season, so what's next? Where do they go? How do they turn this ship around? These are questions that nobody really has any answers to, and from Real Madrid's perspective, it looks like they could be on the brink of entering their AC Milan or Manchester United era very soon.
