Real Madrid came into this summer's transfer window with one clear goal in mind, revamp and rebuild the squad for new manager Jose Mourinho off the back of disappointing back-to-back trophyless seasons, and that's exactly what they have done. The club has brought in almost an entire new look defense with the arrivals of Marc Cucurella, Ibrahima Konate, and Denzel Dumfries, as well as Bernardo Silva in the midfield and Yan Diomande and Carlos Espi in the attack.
The new additions along with some departures have strengthened the squad and made it look more complete and capable of putting up a fight this season, however there is no such thing as a squad being 'too strong' and with the sheer amount of talent available as free agents, it could be smart for Real Madrid to keep their eyes on the market if they hit a rough patch this season and need to bring in more reinforcements.
Real Madrid could still strengthen their squad with these free agents
You could make a starting XI that would be capable of winning a league title with the amount of talented players who are free agents, and given they are exactly that, free agents, it wouldn't hurt Los Blancos to keep their eyes open and consider these options should they be needed in the future.
First up is someone Real Madrid fans know very very well, Sergio Ramos. The Spaniard has been without a club since leaving Mexican side Monterrey in 2025 and despite being 40-years-old is still in incredible shape and would easily be capable of plugging a game when the inevitable defensive injury crisis plagues Real Madrid this season. Ramos would also bring that veteran experience to the team that the current squad is lacking having seen and done everything with Los Blancos. Ramos didn't have the best relationship with Mourinho during his first stint at the club so how the two would get along now over a decade later would no doubt be interesting to see.
Next up may be a bit of a strange one but midfielder Marcelo Brozovic would be a signing that could improve the team more than you might initially think. The Croatian bring loads of experience from a number of different systems and is a proven winner during his time at Inter Milan and Al Nassr. He fits the tempo controlling midfield profile the club was after all summer, and could play a big role as a rotation player similar to what we saw from Joselu in the 23/24 season, as a veteran player to come off the bench and produce. He's still only 33-years-old and if the wages weren't too high, it wouldn't hurt to bring him in as a free agent should the midfield begin to struggle down the road.
Finally we have one that would more be for fun than output and it's Paul Pogba. Pogba is one of the most Madrid coded players to have never played for Los Blancos, and with Real showing interest in the Frenchman before he ultimately returned to Manchester United, it would be fun to see him finally grace the Bernabeu pitch. His best days are far behind him and his injury problems are a serious concern but it would be fun for a year to see what Pogba could do in a Real Madrid kit, something everyone has always wanted to see.
