Althouguh there were rumors linking Aurelien Tchouameni with a move away from Real Madrid throughout the summer 2026 transfer window, Los Blancos have since diverged away from replacement options like Enzo Fernandez.
And now, Jose Mourinho has made his decision to keep Tchouameni not just for this season but for the long term with Real signing the midfielder to a long term contract extension that will give him a raise through the 2030/31 season.
With Real keeping Tchouameni, that means the big transfer(s) that need to happen in order for Jose Mourinho to sign the stars he wants will have to come from elsewhere. Here are three players Los Blancos could let go now to clear squad and wage space after keeping Tchou.
CM Eduardo Camavinga
The most obvious player to sell is Eduardo Camavinga. While Mourinho actually seems lukewarm on the prospect of selling Real's other French center midfielder, he has not come out and said that Cama is safe. Cama has been blocking all transfers and is more likely than not to stay, but with Tchouameni signed to a new contract, the left footed midfielder is now in an unstable situation. If Real Madrid get a good enough offer and Mourinho wants another player, even a defender and not even a midfielder, badly enough, Real could sanction his sale.
AM Brahim Diaz
Brahim Diaz is making some great assists in the World Cup and is promoting his transfer value, though he has made it clear that he wants to stay at Real Madrid despite big interest from Juventus. The Moroccan international is determined to succeed here, and while Jose Mourinho is struck by that and wants to keep the former Manchester City man in the squad, Real may be forced to sell since he is surplus. Arda Guler and Franco Mastantuono are already left footed 10's, and Brahim just does not have the athleticism to be a winger for the demands of Real Madrid.
CB Raul Asencio
Raul Asencio will not bring in much revenue, but with Real Madrid wanting to land another center back for Jose Mourinho, he makes the most sense to let go of next. Real have already gotten rid of Dani Ceballos and now Fran Garcia, and it only makes sense that Asencio is the next to go. Real already know that he does not have the quality or mentality for their squad, so a sale makes more sense than a loan.
