€50m defender chooses Real Madrid over Man United transfer

Unsurprisingly, a €50m rated defender has chosen Real Madrid over Man United. This is despite him being an ex Man United player.
Real Madrid are always forward-thinking. This is why they have established their dominance over Europe for the last few decades.
Los Blancos always have two very different, but equally important squads. One of them is filled to the brim with currently world-class players, the other is filled with young players with world-class ceilings.
Sometimes, those young players come from the Real Madrid academy. However, other times, they are signed as youngsters from other clubs.
Well, if they want to sign a 21-year-old from Benfica, they will face competition from Man United. From the player's perspective, though, there is only one option.
€50m defender chooses Real Madrid over Man United transfer
According to a report from Portuguese outlet Record, Álvaro Carreras would prefer to re-join Real Madrid, rather than re-join Man United. The left-back has a €50m general buyout clause.
For Man United, they have a priority option to sign Álvaro Carreras for just €20m. However, the defender's priorities suggest that Man United are best to stay away. After all, they would only be signing a bitter player who would rather be elsewhere.
Real Madrid, on the other hand, should look at this with perked up eyebrows. The 21-year-old left-back could certainly be a great alternative to Alphonso Davies, whose mind is difficult to read since he is pretty tight-lipped.
This season, Carreras has started five Liga Portugal matches for Benfica. He has also played every minute of UEFA Champions League action for them, showing how important he is.
Álvaro Carreras spent three years at Real Madrid, developing in their youth academy. So, his preference of re-joining Real Madrid rather than re-joining Man United is truly telling.
Unfortunately, since Álvaro Carreras was signed from Man United and not Real Madrid, it is the English side who has the priority to re-sign him for a reduced rate.
Still, Real Madrid are always the favourites in transfer battles such as these. If Carlo Ancelotti wants to re-sign Álvaro Carreras for Real Madrid, the Italian manager is best-placed to make it happen.
