There isn't much to look back on fondly about the Xabi Alonso era at Real Madrid, which was so brief that calling it an era is a misnomer and, well, it was more of a missed opportunity for the Merengues than anything else.

But one of the few positives was the opportunity afforded to young striker Gonzalo Garcia, the only out and out No. 9 in the Real Madrid squad. With Endrick set to return from a highly successful, but also brief, loan spell in France with giants Lyon, Real Madrid appear to be giving up on Garcia as a first team player, actively shopping him on the market with even permanent offers on the table.

Judging by the number of big clubs who are interested in Garcia's services, Real Madrid may want to reconsider. And the latest suitors, according to MARCA journalist Matteo Moretto, via Madrid Xtra, are none other than Serie A giants and Real's former Champions League rivals Juventus.

Juventus are on the cards

So that is now Borussia Dortmund and Juventus as two big clubs who are struggling in the Champions League who are looking at Gonzalo Garcia as much needed - and affordable - striker transfer grab from Real Madrid.

But whereas Dortmund still have Serhou Guirassy on the books, Garcia's path to playing time for Juve is even easier. Dusan Vlahovic and Lois Openda have been massive flops and Openda, in particular, is no real threat to play over Garcia, while Vlahovic is on his way out the door. Jonathan David has been coming around lately, but Garcia is a much more intriguing player, especially in the long term, than the Canadian international.

Garcia has delivered whenever he has played for Real Madrid this season both in La Liga and the Club World Cup, and he has been a gem for the Spanish youth national team. He has the finishing chops and the mental chops to be the No. 9 of the future for Spain, even as Real Madrid and president Florentino Perez remain hooked on the very dangerous drug that is Kylian Mbappe at the No. 9.

Juventus would start Garcia immediately. They do not have a convincing striker, and even as Luciano Spalletti has gotten more out of the current Bianconeri squad than his predecessors, even he can't win without a real scorer. Garcia to Juve just might be the best situation for the young Spaniard to find himself in this summer.
