Real Madrid have been one of the most disappointing teams in European football this season, failing to win a trophy for a second consecutive season while suffering the most ugly in fighting and locker room dysfunction of any squad in the world. The football has been ugly, the stories emenating from the dressing room have been ugly, and the vibe around the club is the lowest it has been - maybe even worse than 2018/19 after Cristiano Ronaldo left.

Los Blancos are hoping that Jose Mourinho's return can help straighten things out, but the players are going to have to get better in the dressing room, particularly in the defense. Real Madrid need an overhaul of the squad and to get rid of disgruntled backup players who are the antithesis of what the likes of Lucas Vazquez, Joselu, and Nacho Fernandez used to bring to the table.

According to a report from ABC Deportes, via the Madrid Zone, there are a whopping nine players who are likely to leave Real Madrid this summer transfer window. David Alaba and Dani Carvajal are obviously guaranteed to leave with their contracts expiring, and both are finished and failed to be real leaders in the locker room, to put it mildly.

Eduardo Camavinga is on the sell list

Then, Real Madrid want to sell Dani Ceballos, Andriy Lunin, and Eduardo Camavinga. They are also expected to sell Fran Garcia and Raul Asencio, too, though the injuries to Eder Militao and Ferland Mendy could complicate their exits. Finally, Franco Mastantuono will be loaned so he can get much needed experience elsewhere, while Real Madrid will sell young striker Gonzalo Garcia outright, potentially with the same standard buy back they will presumably exercise on Como's Nico Paz.

So in total, Real Madrid could lose their backup goalkeeper, potentially four defenders, two midfielders with another loaned, and one striker. That means Real Madrid would need to sign a new No. 2 goalkeeper, a new No. 2 striker, potentially two midfielders, and up to four defenders with a minimum of a left back and two center backs.

That means the busiest summer transfer window for Real Madrid since 2019/20 when they first had talk of a Revolution could be in order. Real Madrid are not thinking of a Revolution in the sense of big names coming or going, but an overhaul of their biggest areas of need in defense and midfield is a minimum.
