Al-Hilal have reportedly made a blockbuster offer to bring Rodrygo from Real Madrid to the Saudi Pro League. Surely, it is within nine figures.
Real Madrid hold Rodrygo in huge regard. He is one of their star players and over the last few seasons, he has made a real name for himself in the Royal White jersey.
Being key to the successes of the club in recent history, Real Madrid would not like to part ways with the Brazilian. It is for this reason why Real Madrid inserted a huge €1 billion release clause into his contract.
Obviously, Real Madrid do not anticipate any club meeting this release clause, which is why they set it in the first place. They could have easily not included a release clause but instead, the whites wanted to show their intent to any interested clubs.
Speaking of interested clubs...
Al-Hilal make a blockbuster offer to bring in Real Madrid star
According to a report from MARCA, Al-Hilal of the Saudi Pro League has made a "super offer" to sign Rodrygo from Real Madrid. As expected, the financially incentivised league is not giving up on signing Real Madrid players.
In the past, Saudi Pro League clubs have been interested in signing Vinicius Junior of Real Madrid. To which, Real Madrid's reponse was clear; either Vini requests a transfer or any club will have to pay €1 billion to sign him.
It is likely the same response for Rodrygo. This is not only because the two Brazilians are great friends but because they are equally as important to Real Madrid. Hence, Real Madrid gave them both unobtainable release clauses.
This is not the first time that Rodrygo has attracted interest from other clubs. Indeed, clubs in the Premier League such as Arsenal and Liverpool previously showed an interest in signing the Brazilian. It is fair to say, though, that the Saudi Pro League stand in a better financial position than both.
This season, Rodrygo has scored 12 goals and provided six assists across all competitions. While he is not producing at his usual rate, you could say the same about any Real Madrid player.
This season has involved a lot of adjustment. Of course, Carlo Ancelotti has had a difficult time squeezing all of Rodrygo, Vini Jr, Jude Bellingham and Kylian Mbappe into the starting lineup at the same time. At the start of the season, he made consequences but it seems the philosophy has been found now.
