Real Madrid have signed a brilliant player in Trent Alexander-Arnold.

He will do well at the club - he just seems like one of those players who are tailor-made for a club like Real Madrid, and everyone should be confident enough in his abilities as a world class footballer to know that he is made for the big games.

Trent loves the big occasion, and he showcases his passing in the best possible way when he is in his 'flow state', where nothing can bother him, and he can flourish in the big moments.

Alexis Mac Allister, Trent's ex-teammate at Liverpool, saw that first hand. In fact, he was so impressed that he gave him some really high praise recently.

Alexis Mac Allister called Trent Alexander-Arnold the greatest passer ever

Speaking to GOAL at the PFA Awards, Mac Allister said: "Trent Alexander-Arnold is the best passer ever.”

That is high praise coming from a really good player, for a really special talent as well.

However, it does overlook one player who could've made this bonkers of a team so much better if he had stayed unretired for a couple more years.

Toni Kroos is Real Madrid's greatest passer ever, that is a fact. What is something arguable that Kroos is also the greatest passer of all time. People can have their picks, those picks don't have to have Kroos in them, but he is definitely in that conversation.

If you are calling Trent the best passer ever, you need to realise you are putting him above every Xavi, Andrea Pirlo and Toni Kroos to ever play the sport, and while he could certainly be in that conversation by the time he retires, Trent is not there yet.

Kroos was unbelievable at passing the ball. The averages he had every season, combined with the volume made him a one-of-one player. He was brilliant, and putting anyone above him in terms of passing is overlooking someone who could well be the greatest at what he did.
