Following the sacking of Xabi Alonso, many at the club believed things would quickly turn around under interim manager Alvaro Arbeloa, however they were horribly wrong. Things have gone from bad to worse in just the last few weeks and following Real's loss to Byern Munich, it seems all bur certain that Arbeloa will be on the chopping block once the season comes to a close. However, the manager may somehow surive to see another season on the sides with Florentino Perez seeing something that quiet frankly nobody else is seeing.

As being reported by theMadridZone on X, despite the disaster that this season has turned out to be, Real Madrid are still considering keeping Alvaro Arbeloa next season, citing two reasons. The club believes that his competitivness in big matches as well as his good man-management are turning what would normally be a straightforward decision, that going trophyless means he gets sacked, into a more complicated one.

Alvaro Arbeloa may be the luckeist man in Real Madrid history

If the club decides to keep Arbeloa for next season, it is a decision that will leave literally everyone scratching their heads. While many would argue that he has had good results in big matches during his time in charge, grabbing wins over Benfica, Manchester City, and Atletico Madrid, he has also suffered some quite embarrassing losses to Albacete, Getafe, Osasuna, and Mallorca, as well as a 1-1 draw with Girona. He also failed to deliver in the biggest games of the season against Bayern which if the club wants results in big games, those two losses to Bayern should be enough to sack him.

The other aspect the club points to when considering his future is his man-management, presumably when it comes to Vinicius Jr. The Brazilian is much happier under Arbeloa then he was under Xabi Alonso which is more important to the club hierarchy than winning, which plays strong into Arbeloa's favor to keep the job for next season.

The unfortunate part for Real Madrid is that their options this summer aren't great. Jurgen Klopp is the number one candidate for the job but it remains unknown if the German even wants to return to management and if he chooses not to, most of the other options aren't much better than Arbeloa.

An unfortunate truth may be starting to settle with Real Madrid fans that signs are pointing towards Arbeloa staying for next season despite the disastrous trophyless season. Given he has the support from the dressing room (Vinicius Jr) and has high ranking board member also in his favor, whether fans like it or not, Arbeloa is looking like the guy that will be on the touchline when the 2026/27 season kicks off in August.
