Over the last week or two we've seen Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez talking up a potential transfer to Real Madrid at some point in his future. The Argentine has spoken openly about his love for the city of Madrid and his admiration for former Real Madrid players Toni Kroos and Luka Modric, continually dropping hints about where he hopes his future lays. However, to Chelsea's dismay, Enzo isn't their only midfielder talking about a potential swap to Los Blancos.
As being reported by theMadridZone on X, Chelsea midfielder Moises Caicedo was asked about a possible transfer to Real Madrid in the future, and much like his teammate, he didn't reject the idea. Caicedo went on to say:
"Joining Real Madrid? In football, you never know."Moises Caicedo
Caicedo joins Enzo in playing up Real Madrid transfer
The Ecuadorian got off to somewhat of a slow start at Chelsea, following his arrival from Brighton in 2023 for a staggering €133 million, but he has developed into one of, if not the best defensive midfielder in the Premier League and has been a standout in a lackluster Chelsea side this season. Caicedo is one of the first names on the Chelsea team sheet and is one of the cornerstone pieces in Liam Rosenior's system.
Caicedo has made 41 appearances for Chelsea across all competitions this season, and managed to get himself on the scoresheet on five occasions, bagging three Premier League goals, as well as two in the Champions League. He's also grabbed 12 yellow cards and one red, which isn't great by any means, but that's defensive midfielders for you.
Caicedo finnaly seems to be delievering on his massive price tag that Chelsea paid, but unfortunetly for The Blues, his head may not be all in it. The 24-year-old has been linked with Los Blancos in the past but those links were never very strong, at least not to the point where the player himself is talking about a potential move.
Real have been linked with almost every midfielder imaginable ahead of the summer transfer window, but who they will ultimately end up signing remains unknown. Unfortunately for Caicedo, he doesn't really fit the profile Los Blancos are looking for in the market. He's more of a defensive midfielder when the club are looking for more of a tempo controlling. passing midfielder. The defensive midfield role is in safe hand with Aurelien Tchouameni, so at the moment Caicedo seems to be off the table for Real Madrid.
