Barcelona winger Anthony Gordon talked about how elated he is to have Real Madrid superstar as a friend and teammate.
A few days before England's game against Croatia, where the Lions won 7-0, Gordon was asked about the way the two players understand each other on and off the pitch, having contributed to the other's goal involvements very often, to which Gordon gave a very heart-warming answer that looked past all rivalries.
He said: “I feel comfortable playing with Jude Bellingham because we think the same way, we’re on the same wavelength. We don’t have any limit on what we can achieve. We want to win, in a good way, we want to go for the throat, we’re not shy, we’re very ambitious.
"I love his mentality and character. I feel so good having him as a friend.”
Jude Bellingham and Anthony Gordon have good chemistry on and off the pitch
Bellingham and Gordon work together beautifully. Both of them know what it means to have to sacrifice a lot through defensive work, pressing, and tireless running. Both of them also know act of selflessness in the attack, where you feel like creating for your teammates just as much as you want to score for yourself.
Bellingham and Gordon both have that, as they keep racking up high assist numbers, including those to one another, which is brilliant to see.
It is also nice to see these players forget about the Clasico rivalry for a few minutes and appreciate their national team teammates as well as Gordon is.
Of course, it is worth noting that Real Madrid and Barcelona have not faced each other since Gordon moved from Newcastle to join Barcelona earlier this summer, but once you do that, the conversation changes a bit.
Regardless of the minutes you have played for the team you play for, or the amount of times you have faced your team's biggest rivals, the feleing of the Clasico gets instilled in you, which is exactly why it is nice to see so much transparency and love from a Barcelona player towards a Real Madrid player.
Even when these players show respect to one another, it is usually in a subtle and subdued manner. It is never as candid as Gordon is being towards Bellingham, which is why it is pretty cool to see.
Of course, both of these players will forget about it for 90 minutes when they go up against one another in the Clasico later this month, but it is good to see instances of kindness in football.
