Alvaro Arbeloa might not even be in charge at Real Madrid this summer but he has reportedly advised the club to sell one of his players. The Spanish coach was appointed caretaker manager until the end of the season.
It's been a chaotic reign thus far for Arbeloa who oversaw a fourth straight La Liga win on Sunday. His side beat Valencia 2-0 at the Mestalla to move back to within a point of leaders Barcelona.
Arbeloa has been extremely defensive of his players in public but behind the scenes he seems to have given up on one of them. His assessment of Eduardo Camavinga could benefit Liverpool.
Real Madrid told to sell Camavinga
Madrid are expected to make one or two central midfield signings in the summer and this could have a knock-on effect. Camavinga has endured a topsy-turvy season and his best display came at left-back in a 6-1 win over AS Monaco.
According to reports in Spain (via Football 365), Arbeloa has decided the French midfielder "will not wear the Real Madrid shirt again." It's claimed that a price has already set for his potential sale with the Spaniard advising the club to accept offers of €50 million plus €20 million in add-ons.
This stance is said to have arisen because Camavinga is "not performing at the level expected of him." Arbeloa has aired his frustrations with the 23-year-old to the board.
Camavinga has been on Liverpool's radar, and the Premier League giants are reportedly "favorites" to sign him this summer. A potential "formal offer" is being readied by the Reds, who have stumbled this season.
Real Madrid have interest in Liverpool star
The report suggesting Camavinga could be offloaded this summer comes amid suggestions Madrid are eyeing Liverpool midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai. Reports claim that the La Liga giants and Manchester City are keeping tabs on the Hungarian's contract situation.
Szoboszlai has been the defending Premier League champions' best player this season and scored a stunning free-kick in a 2-1 loss to City on Sunday. The 25-year-old will have two years left on his contract this summer and he's demanding to be made one of the highest-paid players at Anfield.
A potential deal for Szoboszlai seems unlikely given his importance in Arne Slot's team, but if he doesn't agree on terms for a new contract, it might just open the door. He has registered nine goals and seven assists in 34 games across competitions this season, and his versatility has seen him play at right-back as well as in midfield.
