With Real Madrid staring down another trophyless season and entering what is, for them, a state of crisis, the last thing they can do is bleed any more talented young players. Because they need to be maintaining and building on what they have while shoring up weak areas of the squad.

Endrick joined Real Madrid with a lot of fanfare from Palmeiras and had a pretty good first season at the club in 2024/25 under Carlo Ancelotti, though he mostly started in Copa del Rey games. Though maturity was unsurprisingly an issue for the teenage talent, Endrick was scoring almost every time he hit the field, and he could do things in terms of striking the ball that even his more experienced teammates could not.

This season, Xabi Alonso did not give him so much as a sniff of action, so the Brazilian star was loaned off to Lyon, where he has developed into a sensation and is recapturing the imagination of the exciting footballers who have come through there over the years.

Could Endrick move to Arsenal?

French national team and Arsenal legend Emmanuel Petit was full of praise for the young Endrick, calling him a "diamond" in quotes captured by Madrid Xtra, “Endrick is only 19. He's incredibly talented, very gifted, but he's like a wild horse with so much energy. On the pitch, he's sometimes a bit too selfish, but at the same time, he knows he has enormous potential. He needs to be in the right environment to improve and develop because this kid is a diamond. Given his qualities, I'd love for him to come to Arsenal.”

Martin Odegaard left Real Madrid for Arsenal after a six month loan spell at the club, as he wanted to be a big fish in a smaller pond rather than lost at the Santiago Bernabeu, where Zinedine Zidane wasn't exactly impressed with his mentality or defensive work rate.

Endrick is an even bigger talent than Odegaard with a better mentality, as evidenced by his desire to succeed despite working with coaches like Xabi Alonso and Paulo Fonseca who have been pretty unfair to him and his development.

A supportive environment would indeed, as Emmanuel Petit says, do him well, and though Arsenal could use him, Mikel Arteta and his highly defensive approach may not be the most conducive to that, in truth. And though Endrick is enjoying his football much more at Lyon than at Real Madrid, that may just be because he is young and there is less pressure at the Ligue 1 side.

When Endrick is ready to blossom, though, the opportunities at Real Madrid are too grand to pass up on, and as he is ready to face the pressure of the club, it is hard to argue against it being the right opportunity for a player of his caliber. Though, now, Real Madrid have to be careful to hold off Arsenal, because when the club legends start barking like this, smoke is sure to follow.
